2019 Fogarty Literary Award longlist: Belinda Hermawan talks about getting your short stories published in the USA

May 10, 2019

Belinda Hermawan sits down with Marketing and Communications Manager Claire Miller to talk about her collection of short stories S to Z, which is longlisted for the Fogarty Literary Award for writers aged 18 to 35.

In the podcast, Belinda talks about her pursuit of knowledge, but also those life lessons that can’t be taught in a classroom, and how that translated into her collection. She provides invaluable advice about what you must do to get your short fiction published in the USA. She also reads an excerpt from her manuscript, the short story ‘Bound’, a tale about Aimee and a Chinese fortune-teller who gives her a life-changing fortune that will still haunt her 18 years later.

The inaugural winner of the Fogarty Literary Award will be announced as part of the next Fremantle Press Great Big Book Read at ECU’s Spiegeltent, 6 pm on Wednesday 22 May 2019. Tickets are free, but places are limited. RSVP to the event on Eventbrite or by emailing
