Earlier this year, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts acquired the stage rights to The Hope Fault by Tracy Farr. With the ink barely dry on the contract, or so it seems to me, I had the pleasure and privilege of being at the very first workshop for the stage adaptation by Andrew Hale.
Being there provided invaluable insights into how our local stories make their way from the page to the stage. This was a chance for the talented first year WAAPA students to explore the text and a chance for Andrew to glean some feedback on his next draft.
The students I saw in the workshop will be the company that performs the stage play when it opens in 2019. And what a gifted bunch they are. I was deeply impressed by their talent and commitment, and excited to get a glimpse of just how wonderful the finished production is shaping up to be.
Looking forward to announcing when the tickets go on sale!
