Forget your fear of the dark at the Great Big Dark and Spooky Book Read

August 8, 2018

Keep your torchlight on and don’t wander from the campfire because this October we’re turning out the lights for our Great Big Dark and Spooky Book Read as part of AWESOME Festival 2018.

When the lights go out, your child’s imagination will light up in this one-hour event at the State Library of Western Australia. We’re taking the audience out bush where deadly creatures and danger abound, before falling down a hole and launching into outer space! From the shadows of wartime to a little brother’s intestines, we’ll journey through the dark, discover what it takes to be brave and uncover a daring adventure.

Author and illustrator James Foley said he was looking forward to bringing ‘gastro’ to AWESOME Festival. ‘I’m taking the audience deep inside the dark and scary intestinal tract of a very smelly baby boy. We might even stop for a snack while we’re there,’ said Foley.

Leading us on this torchlit escapade will be Deb Fitzpatrick accompanied by authors Cheryl Kickett-Tucker (Bush and Beyond), Cristy Burne (Off the Track), Kelly Canby (The Hole Story), Dianne Wolfer (In the Lamplight), Ian Mutch (More and More and More) and James Foley (Gastronauts).

Our journey begins at 11.15 am Wednesday 3 October 2018 at the State Library of Western Australia Theatre. Tickets are $25.50 for a family of four and include one free book of your choice.

Tickets will be available from 10 August. Head to https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=391221& or phone AWESOME Arts on 08 9328 9666 during business hours.
