Saturday 19 August, New Norcia Festival: Still Life With Teapot author Brigid Lowry offers her witty observations on what it means to be an ageing woman in today's society and how best to live, love and write.

Tuesday 12 September, Stories on Stage at Koorliny Arts Centre: Old Scores author David Whish-Wilson discusses crime writing.

For families and children

Thursday 24 August, South Perth Library: Children’s publisher Cate Sutherland will inspire the next generation of young writers with a talk about how books are made and interactive writing exercises inspired by the books Swimming on the Lawn by Yasmin Hamid and Dropping In by Geoff Havel. Additionally, South Perth Library and Manning Library will hold Children’s Book Week events on 18–24 August, with authors Cristy Burne, Deb Fitzpatrick, Norman Jorgensen, Chris Owen and Sally Murphy discussing their latest books.

Thursday 7 September to Sunday 10 September, Kimberley Writers Festival: Sabrina Dudgeon will be presenting to school groups and reading from her book Cyclones and Shadows. More information about the festival is on their Facebook page.

Monday 4 September to Tuesday 5 September, StoryArts Festival of Children’s Literature, Ipswich: Brobot and Dungzilla author James Foley takes part in the school program.

Friday 8 September, UPLIT, Brisbane: James Foley invites students to embrace their artistic side with sessions on visual literacy and creature characters.

Tuesday 3 October to Wednesday 4 October, AWESOME Festival, Northbridge: Book launches just for kids! Tickets are on sale for the families-only launches of To the Lighthouse by Cristy Burne, The Spectacular Spencer Gray by Deb Fitzpatrick and Dungzilla by James Foley.
