Fremantle Press and the City of Joondalup Libraries invite you to join writers Mel Hall, Natasha Lester, Brigid Lowry, Susan Midalia, Georgia Richter, Josephine Taylor and Emma Young for a Sunday morning amongst book-loving friends.
Award-winning and bestselling author Natasha Lester said, ‘A tea party with books is definitely my ideal way to spend a Sunday! And, even better, the authors of those books will be at the party too. I can’t wait to hear what they have to say about their wonderful novels. It’s a terrific opportunity to meet them, to listen to them, to ask them questions and to generally immerse ourselves in all things bookish, and with a cup of tea in hand.’
The event, which includes morning tea, will start with Brigid Lowry and Mel Hall discussing mindfulness and the new age in their books A Year of Loving Kindness to Myself and The Little Boat on Trusting Lane. They will be followed by Josephine Taylor on writing her historical fiction debut Eye of a Rook, and the event will end with Susan Midalia and Emma Young in conversation about new contemporary fiction and their novels Everyday Madness and The Last Bookshop.
Joondalup Libraries said they were delighted to be able to bring the popular and long-running Fremantle Press Great Big Book Club to Joondalup, the ‘CBD of the north’, for the first time. ‘Local stories are culturally enriching and book club events are a great way to meet other people over a shared love of those stories. We can’t wait to welcome our local community as well as book clubbers from all over WA to the Joondalup Library.’
Fremantle Press publisher and author of the book How to Be an Author: The Business of Being a Writer in Australia, Georgia Richter, said, ‘I’m excited by the delicious feast of books that will be on offer from some truly excellent authors. Any of these books would make perfect book-club books, and the opportunity to meet and hear from the women who wrote them is such a bonus.’
Bring your book club, bring your mum, bring your cousins, friends and family, and discover your next great read and the author who wrote it.
