The Bunbury-based creator of Six Two Three Zero, Andrew Frazer, is about to release his first book. Drawn Onward, a picture book co-created with award-winning author Meg McKinlay, will be launched with an afternoon tea at Collins Booksellers Bunbury on Saturday 7 October. Both author and illustrator will be on hand to introduce the book.
Frazer, who is also known as the creator of street art festival Re.Discover Bunbury, said Drawn Onward is about a journey of redemption in the face of adversity.
‘A shift of perspective can be the difference between sinking and swimming when you’re overwhelmed by life’s struggles,’ said Frazer. ‘That’s what the book is about: changing your view from the glass half empty to the glass half full. Through my characters and hand-drawn lettering I really wanted to honour Meg’s words and make that message as accessible as possible.’
Collins Booksellers Bunbury owner Erica Tonkin said Frazer had been involved in a number of art installation projects around the Bunbury CBD and it was great to see the city come alive with vibrant artwork.
‘As an ex–Bunbury Catholic College student and champion for the arts, Andrew has also been invited to be the guest artist at the annual Art Extraordinaire twice where he has installed an art piece at the school and spoken about his passion for bringing art to a wider community. It’s fitting then that his first book is one for secondary school students,’ said Tonkin.
Bunbury locals can catch Andrew Frazer as he installs a bespoke window display at Collins Booksellers Bunbury from 3 pm on Friday 6 October. Both Frazer and author Meg McKinlay will be in Collins to launch Drawn Onward at a special afternoon tea, 3.30 pm on Saturday 7 October. Tickets are free.
