Good wine and great crime in Denmark

October 4, 2017

Silverstream Wines Denmark will present Crime Wave with Alan Carter and Dave Warner on 4 November 2017. Hosted by John McGlue, the event celebrates the release of Silverstream’s 2013 Riesling and 2014 Pinot Noir. Guests can enjoy readings and author interviews in the Silverstream Gardens while picnicking on sumptuous fare from Great Southern Oysters, Dellendale Cheese and Little Villain gourmet hampers.

Felicity Ruse said Silverstream Wines is a keen supporter of Fremantle Press. ‘We love the way they bring opportunities to new and emerging writers from Western Australia – so it’s an easy segue for us to have two fabulous authors drop by to talk about their books and spend some time with us.’ Ruse said she was looking forward to releasing Silverstream’s 2014 Pinot Noir at the event. ‘A complex nose of cherries and spice, complemented by toasty French oak, this is our second pinot noir vintage coming from the successful grafting of the Burgundian and Picardy pinot clones to our fifteen-year-old merlot vines,’ said Ruse.

In addition to his new book Marlborough Man Alan Carter will be talking about pig-hunting, logging, and shoplifting meat – all features of his current life in a remote dead-end valley in New Zealand. Dave Warner’s novel Before It Breaks won last year’s Ned Kelly Award for Best Australian Crime Fiction. He said his follow-up Clear to the Horizon, though fictional, used one of Western Australia’s most notorious unsolved serial killings as a touchstone.
