On April 29, bestselling Perth author Liz Byrski unveiled her latest memoir, In Love and War: nursing heroes. Powerful and personal, In Love and War explores the lives of nurses working in a small Sussex town in the wake of the Battle of Britain.
Charged with caring for the badly wounded airmen – the so-called Guinea Pig Club – these women were often required to go above and beyond in their duties to ensure each man had the best chance at survival. Now, Byrski returns to the town where she grew up to tell their stories – stories that haunted her dreams as a child.
