Elizabeth Jolley

Elizabeth Jolley was born in the industrial Midlands of England and came to Western Australia in 1959 with her husband. She published twenty-three books, including novels, short fiction, poetry, non-fiction and plays. Celebrated as one of Australia’s major writers, she also established a formidable international reputation, with her books being widely published throughout the world. She received an Order of Australia for services to Australian literature and was awarded honorary doctorates from four universities. She died in February 2007.
