Productivity Commission Statement

17th July 2009

No-one really knows what the impact of the Productivity Commission recommendations to the current parallel import provisions might be, if indeed the Government acts upon the recommendations.

The Commission has recommended a timetable for implementation three years from the date the legislation is declared – any possible changes would take place no earlier than 2013.

All those associated with the publishing industry will watch developments closely in the next few years, and adapt and modify their business models accordingly.

In the meantime, our program at Fremantle Press is strong and successful; we will continue to publish the best of Western Australian writers and books in the manner for which we have earned our reputation over the past thirty or so years.
