Elements launches new space with Brian Simmonds
14th July 2009
The Elements Art Gallery officially launched their new space in Dalkeith with an exhibition by Lighthouse Girl illustrator Brian Simmonds on 11 July 2009.
The exhibition called “Dear Earth …” highlights Brian’s veneration for nature with canvasses in oil and pastels.
Brian who was an award-winning artist for thirty years before illustrating his first book, said his work has more resonance now than it did ten years ago reminding viewers that we ignore nature at our peril.
“I describe my surroundings through the language of painting,” Simmonds told Elements Gallery.
Brian is a respected local painter who has exhibited widely winning prizes for drawing, oil painting and mixed media.
“Dear Earth …” runs until 26 July at Elements Art Gallery, 131A Waratah Avenue.
