Online partnership with indigo journal

24th February 2009

Fremantle Press and indigo journal announced an online partnership that will enable the journal to be sold and distributed from the Fremantle Press website.

Customers from anywhere in the world can now pay for indigo online via Fremantle Press’ secure website and have it despatched to them within 48 hours.

CEO Jenny Archibald said there are strong connections between indigo journal and Fremantle Press which make the online partnership the obvious next step.

“Like indigo journal, Fremantle Press is dedicated to publishing and promoting Western Australian writing.

“It’s heartening to see that both companies have chosen to publish new and established writers such as Glyn Parry, John Kinsella and TAG Hungerford award-winner Natasha Lester,” said Ms Archibald.

Managing Editor of indigo journal Donna Ward said indigo would remain proudly independent.

“We are well-known for the fact that the short stories, essays and poems in indigo are selected anonymously by different guest editors for each volume,” she said.

Ms Ward said that a number of new names keep appearing again and again alongside the established authors. She said to look out for writers like Liana Joy Christensen, Meredi Ortega and poets Helen Hagerman and Frances Macaulay Forde.

“Personally I am really excited about our partnership with Fremantle Press because it will make the journal as easily accessible as possible,” said Ms Ward.

indigo journal is the only journal devoted to West Australian creative writing. It welcomes work from leading writers of poetry and prose as well as work from unpublished, new and emerging writers. The deadline for submissions for the October volume is 30 May 2009.
