Kwaymullina chosen for Bologna Exhibition
2nd February 2010
Ambelin Kwaymullina is one of just 25 Australian illustrators whose work will be exhibited by the Australian Publishers’ Association at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in March 2010.
The exhibition will promote Australian culture and literary culture internationally, and draw attention to and showcase the diversity and depth of Australian children’s books through the work of a range of outstanding Australian children’s book illustrators.
Children’s Publisher Cate Sutherland said she was thrilled to have Kwaymullina’s Crow and the Waterhole included in the illustration showcase at the Australian Collective Stand.
“This is the premiere international children’s rights event with more than 4,500 attendees from nearly 70 countries attending Bologna each year.
“In addition to Kwaymullina’s inclusion in the illustration display, two more Fremantle Press titles will be featured in the APA’s book showcase,” said Sutherland.
Lighthouse Girl by Dianne Wolfer and Brian Simmonds, and Miss Llewellyn-Jones by Elaine Forrestal and Moira Court will be included in the book showcase, which features a further 25 Australian books.
