Elizabeth Pyle moved from England to Australia when she was seventeen, finishing school at Eastern Goldfields High School in Kalgoorlie. Her daughter Jessica was born in 1989. A first draft of Beastly Nights was written after Jessica started having terrible nightmares when she was four.
