About the Book

My name is Emma, my story is true and I am telling it because I want my children and my children’s children to know what sort of life I have had, for many things have happened to me. I have seen a lot of changes. I have moved from one country to another — from Italy to Australia — from life on a farm to life in a town, from labour on a farm to work in a factory. On the way I married and had children. I discovered early in my life that you have to be a fighter to survive, and this is the record of some of my battles.

Courage, optimism and a strong sense of humour are the stock ingredients which flavour Emma’s recipes for life in this humorous and courageous memoir. The book concludes with a wonderful cookbook of Emma’s favourite recipes.
