Ian Crawford

Ian Crawford was appointed to a position in Aboriginal studies at the Western Australian Museum in 1961. In 1962, he commenced research on cave paintings in the Kimberley, where he was befriended by the Aboriginal people whose stories are presented in his book, The Art of the Wandjina. Following his retirement, he continued to visit Aboriginal friends, particularly at Kalumburu, to discuss with them issues about their stories and their lands.
