Jan McNess grew up in Western Australia and for the last thirty years has lived in Victoria. In 1993 her elder son, Jeremy, died in a plane crash and keen to keep his memory alive, she began writing the story of his life and death. Originally for family, that story developed into The Thirteenth Night.
